BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – A report from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services on Friday showed that the seven-day average positivity rate of COVID-19 tests in Branch and Hillsdale Counties between January 7 and 13 were well above the rate for the State of Michigan.
Branch, Hillsdale and Missaukee Counties are the only counties that are at Level D which is second highest of the six levels in the metric used by the Michigan Department of Heath and Human Services to assess the risk levels of catching COVID-19.
Branch County had a positive rate for the week of 16 percent which was down from 24 percent during the previous week.
Hillsdale County had the worst positive rate in the entire state at 18-point-5 percent.
The State of Michigan’s positivity rate was at 7.6 percent between January 7 and 13.
No counties in the state were at the highest level of Level E.
The statistics showed that of the 1,279 tests that were administered in Branch County between January 7 and 13, there were 205 positive tests.
The latest information from the Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency show there has been 72 COVID-19 related deaths in Branch County out of the 3,108 cases that have been reported.
Branch County has had the most deaths in the agency’s jurisdiction. Hillsdale and St. Joseph County have each had 64 COVID-19 related deaths.
