ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – A police chase that began in Elkhart County, Indiana on Friday night came to an end in St. Joseph County.
The St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department says the pursuit was picked up around 8:00 p.m. by both the White Pigeon and Constantine Police Departments in the area of Riverside Drive and Blue School Road. The suspect was said to be driving at a high rate of speed and was going into oncoming traffic.
Sheriff Deputies joined the pursuit and deployed stop sticks at Centreville-Constantine Road and Kuhlmeyer Road.
The suspect vehicle did not stop after hitting the stop sticks and continued going through the Village of Centreville.
It eventually got onto M-86 on two rims. It then passed through Nottawa and crossed the M-86 and M-66 intersection.
The vehicle pursuit finally ended on Lepley Road but not before the suspect nearly struck a police vehicle head on.
The suspect vehicle went into a ditch and a cornfield. The driver tried to make a run for it but was arrested without further incident.
The suspect was lodged at the St. Joseph County Jail on multiple charges including fleeing and elude and resisting and obstructing.
