BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – A potential threat against Bronson Junior and Senior High School did not materialize Wednesday afternoon but it led to district buildings being placed in a lock down.
The outside threat procedures were put in place which meant doors to the schools were locked from the outside. Bronson Police Chief Steven Johnson said the school was notified after the State of Michigan’s OK2SAY web site got information on the threat.
The school system then notified Bronson Police who received assistance from the Branch County Sheriff’s Department and the Michigan State Police during its investigation.
During this type of procedure, students can not leave the buildings and no one is permitted to enter.
After the time frame for the potential threat past, the lockdown was lifted at about 2:30 p.m. and dismissal took place at the normal time.
Johnson says the message received was basic in nature but did give a time as to when an incident would take place. He says his department takes any threat to students very seriously and the department is continuing to investigate.
If anyone has information, they are asked to contact Bronson Police at 517-369-9083.
