BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The latest data from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services show Branch County’s COVID-19 positivity rate for new cases is still among the lowest in the state.
Of the 862 tests administered between February 23 and March 1, there were 23 positive tests which resulted in a positivity rate of two-point-seven percent.
It was at three percent for the period between February 16 and 22.
Branch County is among 29 counties in Michigan where the positivity rate for new COVID-19 cases was under three percent. Five of the counties in the Upper Peninsula had no new cases reported during the last week. U.P. counties are among those with high COVID-19 vaccination rates.
The news is not as good in neighboring counties. Hillsdale County’s positivity rate was at 7-point-1 percent which puts it at Level B. That’s the fourth highest metric used by the M.D.H.H.S. to determine the risk of contracting the virus.
St. Joseph and Calhoun Counties are both at Level A which is the fifth highest level on the new positivity metric scale.
The statewide rate for the seven day period was down slightly from last week at three-point-five percent.
