COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Michigan State Housing Development Authority is administering the COVID Emergency Rental Assistance and they are now accepting applications.
The new program provides rent and utility assistance to households experiencing financial hardships due to COVID-19.
Up to 12 months of past-due rental assistance, three months of prospective rent, and past-due residential utility services are offered.
Applicants may also have access to a $300 internet stipend if qualified.
The CERA program is available through the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2021, which provided the state of Michigan nearly $300 million in funding. Those eligible to apply must meet certain criteria.
