COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Another step in the process for the Village of Union City to leave the Michigan South Central Power Agency took place on Wednesday as the agency board approved a wholesale power distribution agreement during a special meeting.
The Union City Village Council has scheduled a special meeting for Thursday afternoon to take action on the agreement.
The three party agreement also has to be approved by Consumers Energy.
Pam Sullivan from agency manager American Municipal Power said the novation agreement and assignment would cover Union City and Consumers and leave out the M.S.C.P.A.
Board Chair and Marshall City Manager Tom Tarkiewicz and Union City Village Manager Chris Mathis agreed that putting together the agreement was easier than anticipated.
It’s hoped everything will be in place to allow Union City to leave the agency by June 30.
When they leave the prices for Coldwater and other connected cities will see their prices increase. These are more direct results of the Paul Beckhusen corrupt doings to us. That man should be ostracized by everyone. He swindled us out of hundreds of thousands of dollars for himself and he will continue to cost to taxpayers hundreds of thousands more. Why is he still “serving” on local committees? He belongs to the GOB Club that’s why!
