DETROIT, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Detroit Tigers designated infielder Renato Nunez for assignment yesterday to make room on the roster for pitcher Spencer Turnbull. If Nunez clears waivers, he could be re-assigned to Triple-A Toledo.
The move was also made ahead of the return of Miguel Cabrera, who could be back in the lineup as soon as this weekend after dealing with a bicep injury.
Detroit called up infielder Zack Short from the taxi squad to replace Nunez on the 26-man roster.
