COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Board of Commissioners brought a resolution forward during their work session on Thursday that would lead to improvements at the Branch County Memorial Airport which are being mostly funded through the federal government.
Plans call for the reconstruction and expansion of a fuel access apron and the rehabilitation of a taxiway.
Airport Manager Joe Best said the work is part of their five year plan.
He said the project would improve safety at the airport.
The total budget for the designing of the project is over $65,000.
The federal government would pick up 90 percent of the total costs through a grant which comes out to over $58,700.
Branch County and the Michigan Department of Transportation would each pay five percent of the costs which comes out to over $3,200 apiece.
Formal action by the Commissioners is expected to be taken on Tuesday afternoon.
