COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – As a second year of “Hops on Monroe” starts to wind down, an update on the downtown promotion was presented to the Coldwater City Council on Monday night.
Courtney Dirschell from Second Story Marketing said they have been averaging between 500 and 700 people a week.
She said they have received inquiries about extending “Hops on Monroe” into September but they found last year that they saw a significant decline in attendance after Labor Day.
Dirschell said the food trucks have met their minimum food sales for the weekly Thursday night promotion as South Monroe is closed to vehicle traffic between U.S. 12 and Pearl Street. Dirschell the food trucks plan to return next year.
She added final plans are being worked on for the second annual “Hoptoberfest” which will be between 4:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 9.
Organizers are seeking sponsors for the event which will celebrate German heritage and Coldwater’s sister city in Soltau, Germany.
