BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The blast furnace continues to be in full operation. Wednesday is going to be another hot and sweltering day with heat index readings expected to get above 100.
The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for parts of southwest Michigan, northern Indian and northwest Ohio as highs are forecast to get into the low 90s with heat index readings between 96 and 101.
The Branch County Memorial Airport had a high temperature of 90 on Tuesday with the heat index topping out at 101.
Organizers for the City of Coldwater’s “Entertainment Under the Stars” decided to postpone Tuesday night’s program at Heritage Park because of the heat.
With Wednesday promising yet another day of stifling heat, Union City Community Schools has announced students will only attend a half day of classes. Elementary students will be dismissed at 10:55 am, middle school at 11:05am, and high school students at 11:10.
Thunderstorms are also possible Wednesday afternoon and evening. While widespread severe weather is not expected, a few strong storms could have gusty winds.
