COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Based on the new recommendation from the CDC, the Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency is now offering Pfizer booster doses to all residents age 16 and 17.
They say those who completed their Pfizer primary vaccine series with the second dose being at least six months ago are eligible for a booster dose.
Health Officer Rebecca Burns says vaccination continues to be the best protection strategy against severe COVID-19 illness and death as Michigan continues to have a surge in COVID cases. According to Burns, the CDC data updated December 13 shows the current positivity rate is 24.2 percent in Branch County, 30.8 percent in Hillsdale County and 22.7 percent in St. Joseph County. Burns says, “Our area hospitals continue to report the patients who are cared for in the Intensive Care Units are nearly always unvaccinated.” She reports there were 24 COVID related deaths in the area from December 1 through December 10 with four deaths in Branch County, 12 in Hillsdale County and eight in St. Joseph County.
