BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – Staff for the City of Bronson have had enough of people leaving the buildings at Greenwald and Douglas Parks in terrible condition after they were rented out.
City Manager Brandon Mersman says the staff has reevaluated the rates for renting the park buildings after some recent incidences involving alcohol use. He says in his report for Monday’s Bronson City Council meeting that the rates had not been reviewed since 2010.
According to Mersman, “There have been multiple occasions now where the buildings have been left in terrible condition. One of these incidents is currently being prosecuted. The amount we are charging for a deposit is not enough to cover time spent cleaning after these events.”
The City Council is scheduled to take action on a resolution that increases the rent of facilities from $25 to $50 for city residents and increases the deposit to $100 which is up from $50.
For Bronson School District residents outside the city, the rate would be $75 and for non-local renters it would be $100 with a $150 deposit for both.
Mersman says this rate is “still very reasonable and will better cover our expenses to operate and maintain these facilities.”
