BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – Branch County Commissioner Leonard W. Kolcz said during Monday’s Bronson City Council meeting he will not run for re-election this year after four terms as his district is being divided.
The Branch County Apportionment Commission voted in October to keep the number of County Commissioner districts at the current number of five.
The City of Bronson along with Bronson Township would be in the same district with Ovid, Kinderhook, Gilead and Noble Townships.
Matteson Township would be in a district with Bethel, Union, Sherwood and Batavia Townships.
The new boundaries meant Kolcz would have had to run in the August G.O.P. Primary against fellow Commissioner Tim Stoll and Kolcz did not want to do that. Instead, Kolcz said he is endorsing Stoll for the District Two seat. Kolcz was first elected to the Branch County Board of Commissioners in 2016.
