COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A nearly 50 minute presentation was made to the Coldwater City Council on Monday night about plans to improve and enhance the Chicago Street corridor between Clay and Sprague Streets.
Economic Development Assistant Audrey Tappenden said the project has taken a year to complete and has gone by many names.
The Downtown Development Authority Board contributed $5,000 towards the development of plans by Intersect which was about 25 percent of the total cost. Tappenden pointed out it’s been over three decades since the last comprehensive update had been done.
She said a walkable, vibrant and safe downtown is a key to economic development goals.
City Manager Keith Baker said this is the first step.
It’s estimated all of the improvements along Chicago Street would cost about $4 million dollars. The complete presentation can be found on the Downtown Development Authority page at www.coldwater.org.
