COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Board of Public Utilities Board of Directors decided Wednesday night to continue to move forward with Project V, the proposed natural gas turbine which would be located near the substation on Jonesville Road.
Pam Sullivan from American Municipal Power presented various capacity options during a recent CBPU workshop.
By approving the Michigan South Central Power Agency to move forward with the Definitive Planning Phase, the CBPU will now have at risk their 74 percent allocated share of $282,620 which comes out to $209,000.
Director Jeff Budd says these funds are at risk only if the MSCPA decides not to move forward with the project. Budd said in his report there are several layers of risk involved with the final decision but his recommendation was based on the presentation and the best information available to date.
Budd corrected a statement he made at the Board Workshop. Should Project V be approved, it will be done as a Power Sales Agreement, not as a Power Purchase Agreement as originally thought. Thus, the City Council will need to be involved in the final approval process as the full debt payment is being guaranteed by the City of Coldwater.
