UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – The Union City Chargers swept a Big 8 Conference doubleheader from Reading on Friday by scores of 6-2 and 13-1.
The Chargers scored three runs in the first inning of the opener and took advantage of four Reading errors.
Jakob Fosmore had two hits and three RBI’s to pace the Chargers.
Winning pitcher Kyle Johnson struck out 11 in six innings of work.
The Chargers broke open the nightcap with a eight run fifth inning as they collected 15 hits in the contest.
Owen Jackson and Tyler Wagley each drove in three runs.
Ryan Zweng, Aidan Decker and Phoenix Elkins all had two hits.
Zweng was also the winning pitcher as he struck out nine in five innings of work.
The Chargers are now 8-2 overall and 4-2 in the Big 8 Conference.
