LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Michigan Community Service Commission has awarded $10,000 to support 26 Michigan organizations hosting volunteer projects for the 9/11 National Day of Service.
Through these projects, volunteers will serve veterans, military personnel and first responders, and also focus on environmental improvement and disaster preparedness.
“Serving others is a wonderful way to unite individuals and strengthen communities as we remember those who assisted others after the 9/11 tragedy,” said MCSC Executive Director Ginna Holmes. “We encourage everyone to find a way to volunteer and make a difference.”
The Michigan Community Service Commission issued more than $10,000 in grants ranging from $100 to $1,000. Funding has also been provided by AmeriCorps.
