MARSHALL, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Cardinal boys golf team tied with Stevensville Lakeshore for sixth place Friday at Marshall’s Tom Reynolds Invitational, played under ideal conditions at the Marshall Country Club. Both schools had scores of 322; event winner Jackson Northwest carded a 303, one stroke ahead of runner-up Portage Central and two ahead of third-place Chelsea.
Dracyn Foster shot the low round for Coldwater; his 76 was good for eleventh individually. Joe Searls carded a 79, while Braydon Wilkins had an 80, and identical rounds of 87 were fired by Jack Aker and Colten Calhoun.
Meanwhile, the Cardinal JV team tied with Vicksburg atop the leaderboard with identical rounds of 169 at the first JV jamboree of the season hosted by Vicksburg at States Golf Course. Coldwater won by virtue of the fifth golfer tiebreaker.
Kolten Case fired a 39 to lead Coldwater, while Wayne Case had a 41, Braxton Bercaw 43, Parker Nelson 46, and Cohen Taylor a 47.
Coldwater’s varsity squad returns to action next Thursday at the Tom Collins Memorial, hosted by Gull Lake at the Gull Lake View Golf Course. The JV team will participate in the Harper Creek JV Invitational next Friday at Binder Park Golf Course.
