QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – The Union City Chargers and the Bronson Vikings took the top two positions in the girls portion of the Big 8 Conference Cross Country Jamboree hosted by Quincy on Tuesday afternoon.
The Chargers finished first with 37 points followed by the Vikings with 60 points, Concord with 73 points and Quincy in fourth with 80 points.
Bronson’s Ava Hathaway and Ashlynn Harris were the top two finishers. Hathaway’s winning time was 19:52.42 as she was the only runner to break 20 minutes.
Union City had five runners finish in the top 12 led by Skyler Fraley who was fourth. Alissa Skirka was sixth, Murcie Wallen was seventh. Kyla Burdick was ninth and Elizabeth Arlt was 12th.
Three Quincy runners were in the top 15 led by Charlotte Crabbs who was eighth. Sadie Miller was 13th and Brookelyn Parker was 14th.
Jonesville won the boys meet with 56 points followed by Concord with 72 points and Bronson in third with 75 points. Union City was fifth while Quincy did not have enough runner for a team score due to injuries.
Union City’s Ben Gautsche was third in a time of 17:28.95. Jason Shoop finished sixth.
Bronson’s top runner was Ashton Wells who was fifth. Aden Hathaway was 12th.
Quincy’s Rhett Reif was seventh while Jacob Reif was ninth.
