BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater earned a girls softball split with Parma Western on Wednesday while Bronson remained unbeaten in the Big 8 Conference with a sweep of Branch County rival Quincy.
Parma Western used a ten run sixth inning to defeat Coldwater 17-8 in the first game of their doubleheader. Rylie Van Aken homered and drove in four runs for Coldwater while Mya Porter had three RBI’s. Maren DeBeau and Mackenzie Searing both had two hits.
It was all Coldwater in the nightcap as the Cardinals pounded Parma 14-2 thanks to 15 hits. Van Aken belted two home runs and drove in six runs in the second game while Porter homered and drove in five runs. DeBeau also drove in five runs. Coley Burkhardt had four hits including three doubles and three RBIs.
Coldwater is now 8-13 overall and 5-3 in the Interstate 8.

Bronson defeated Quincy 17-1 and 9-3. First game winning pitcher Ashlynn Harris struck out eight in four innings of work. The Vikings collected 15 hits. Brealyn Lasky had four hits and four RBI’s. Harris helped her own cause with three hits including a triple and three RBI’s and two stolen bases. Roni Bir had three hits including two doubles and two stolen bases.
Alyssa McCavit tripled in a run and Kaylee Modert doubled for Quincy.
Quincy only trailed Bronson 5-3 in the second game before Bronson broke the game open with a four run sixth innings.
Mya Webb was the winning pitcher with five strikeouts in six innings of work.
Lydia Wells homered and drove in three runs. Harris had three hits including a triple. Blankenship drove in two runs and had two stolen bases. Lasky also had two hits.
McCavit belted a three run homer for Quincy. Payton Gross and Josie Mescher each had two hits.
Bronson is now 16-8 overall and 10-0 in the Big 8 Conference. Quincy falls to 5-3 in the Big 8 and 11-10 overall.
