COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater girls softball team split two games on Saturday in their Coldwater Invitational Tournament at the Rotary Softball Complex.
The tournament was trimmed to three teams as Delton-Kellogg was a late drop out.
The Cardinals lost to Grandville 5-2 in their first game. Coldwater got their runs on a bases loaded walk to Maddie Moore and a RBI single by Coley Burkhardt. Mya Porter struck out eight in five innings of work.
Coldwater bounced back to defeat Garden City 3-1. The Cardinals scored all their runs in the third inning on a fielders choice by Kenzie Searing, a sacrifice fly by Moore and a RBI ground out by Izzy Angevine.
Searing was the winning pitcher as she allowed two hits and struck out four. Maren Debeau got the final out for the save.
Grandville defeated Garden City 8-3 thanks to a six run seventh inning.
With the split on Saturday, Coldwater’s record is now 9-14.
