Walton H. “Walt” Lane, 93, of Coldwater passed away Monday, July 21, 2025 at his home.
A service will be held Thursday, July 24, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with Pastor Kevin Looper officiating.
A visitation will be held July 23, 2025, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater. Interment will take place following the service at Oak Grove Cemetery in Coldwater.
Walt was born August 26, 1931, in Bronson, MI to Harry and Gladys (Moon) Lane. He married Donna E. Enos March 17, 1951. She preceded him in death in 1980. He later married Janet S. Lewis June 4, 1983, in Coldwater.
Walt was a dedicated employee for 40 years at Quality Springs/TOGO in Coldwater until his retirement in 1993. After his retirement, Walt and Janet sold real estate together for 25 years. He also worked at the Community Health Center of Branch County for 10 years and afterwards continued to volunteer at CHC.
As an active member in the community, Walt was on the CBPU Board for 21 years, and the Branch County Board of Canvassers. He was a member of the Masons for most of his life and attended Lockwood Community Church.
In addition to volunteering at the community hospital, he also volunteered his time at the Branch Co. Library and participated in Civil War reenactments. Walt enjoyed reading, chair caning, and family genealogy.
Walt is survived by his wife, Janet Lane of Coldwater; his children Gail (Jim) Osborn of Coldwater, Mark (Deb) Lane of Coldwater, Tim (Julie) Lane of Coldwater, Julie (Chris) Pierson of Quincy, Susan (Mark) Kennedy of Coldwater; his step children Julie (Victor) Wakley of Lapel, IN, Jeff (Angela) Kolak of Sacramento, CA, Peter (Helen) Kolak of Livermore, CA; his siblings David (Diana) Lane, Emmy Kloko, Nora Coler; his grandchildren Sara, Greg, and Kyler; his step grandchildren Danielle, Dustin, Kim, Paul, Alex, Devon, Nicole, Kyra, Jacob, Samantha; many great grandchildren, and nieces and nephew.
Memorials may be directed to Lockwood Community Church.
