Shirley B. Ward, 85, of Coldwater passed away Saturday, September 20, 2025 at Beacon Health System in Kalamazoo.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with Pastor Kevin Looper of Lockwood Community Church officiating.
Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Girard Township.
Shirley was born July 7, 1940 in Coldwater to Orville and Mary (Sackett) Brouse. She attended Coldwater High School and worked at many places throughout her career.
She married Walter Ward, Sr. October 25, 1958. He preceded her in death February 10, 2022.
Shirley was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved to spend time with her family. She enjoyed puzzle books and going shopping. She also enjoyed watching TV shows including Gilligan’s Island, The Jefferson’s and Sanford and Son.
Shirley is survived by her children Chester Ward; Connie Ward; Thelma Ward; Walter Ward Jr.; and Preston Ward; her brother Gerald Brouse Sr.; and her grandchildren Terry Ward; Justin Ward; and Austin Ward.
In addition to her husband Walter, Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; her daughters Nancy Ward, and Elena Ward; and her brothers Orville Brouse Jr.; and Earl Brouse.
Memorial donations may be directed to Dutcher Funeral Home to help the family with funeral expenses.
