Harry was born November 2, 1936 in St. Marys, Ohio, to William and Virginia (Miller) Squires.
July 25, 1956 he married the love of his life, Loretta Mae Richards, in Decatur, Indiana. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, hard work, and service to others. Loretta preceded him in death December 4, 2015, after nearly 60 years of marriage.
He was a man of unwavering faith who dedicated his life to serving God, his family, and his community. A lifelong farmer, skilled welder, and devoted minister, he was never one to shy away from hard work. Whether tending the land, repairing equipment, or helping a neighbor in need, Harry approached every task with determination and a servant’s heart.
For twenty years, Harry faithfully served as Pastor of East Gilead Missionary Church, where he touched countless lives through his leadership, wisdom, and compassionate spirit. His faith was not only something he preached but something he lived every day. He was also a proud member of the Christian Motorcycle Association and the NRA.
Harry’s talents as a welder were well known, and his ingenuity never faded with age. One of his proudest accomplishments was constructing his own working cannon at the age of 80, a testament to both his craftsmanship and his adventurous spirit. He found great joy in farming, growing giant pumpkins, working with his beloved John Deere tractors, hunting deer and bear, and riding motorcycles on the open road.
While Harry enjoyed many hobbies and pursuits throughout his life, nothing brought him greater happiness than spending time with his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend whose guidance, strength, and steady presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His family was the center of his world, and the legacy of faith, integrity, and love that he leaves behind will continue to inspire generations to come.
Harry’s life was a remarkable example of dedication, perseverance, and faithfulness. Though he will be greatly missed, his family finds comfort in knowing that he has been reunited with his beloved Loretta and has entered into the eternal peace promised through his faith in Christ.
Harry leaves behind his children Cindy (Jeff) Robertson of Bronson, Christy (Marc) Hendrick of Coldwater, Dan (Sue) Squires of Pittsford, Becky (Kevin) Thomas of Coldwater, Paul Squires of White Pine, his sisters Mary Lutgens of Coldwater, Audrey Walling of IN; his grandchildren Bridget (Tony) Outwater, Robie (Brandi) Robertson, Jacob (RaeAnna) Robertson, Justin (Kara) Hendrick, Brittany Hendrick, Cameron (Kelsey) Hendrick, Jennifer (Shane) Miller, Amanda (Dillon) Thomas, Courtney (Ryan) Ruhl, Nick (Cassy) Thomas, Tyler Thomas, Morgan Thomas, Dennis Hantz, Jessica (Emil) Dvoracek; his 33 great grandchildren; and his many loving nieces and nephews.
