BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – A 31-year-old Battle Creek mother, Andrea Graham, was back in court for preliminary examination Friday in Calhoun County Court on charges of first-degree murder and felony firearm possession.
Police arrested the stay-at-home mother of two following the April 2026 fatal shooting of her 31-year-old husband, Alan Graham.
According to investigators, Andrea called 911 claiming she acted in self-defense while being strangled.
Upon arrival at the home on Ridgeway Drive, officers discovered Alan deceased in the basement hallway with multiple gunshot wounds. Graham allegedly told police she shot her husband repeatedly “to make sure he was out of his misery” so he would not suffer slowly.
During the court proceedings, prosecutors presented physical and forensic evidence that contradicted Graham’s claim of self-defense.
Probable cause documents detailed that investigators found no visible injuries on Graham consistent with strangulation, nor did they find any blood on her clothing. Blood spatter analysis, shell casing locations, and a shattered picture frame found on the victim’s body indicated that Alan was standing roughly 10 feet away from his wife when she fired the first shots.
The evidence further suggested that additional rounds were fired while the victim was already lying on the ground. Graham, who remains held without bond, faces life in prison without the possibility of parole if convicted
