Vern E. Quiter, 95, of Bronson passed away peacefully Friday, August 7, 2026 at The Laurels of Coldwater.
A celebration of Vern’s life will be held at Cornerstone Church in Bronson August 21, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. A gathering will be held prior to the service from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
Arrangements are being cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.
Vern was born September 24, 1930 in Eden, Ohio, to Henry E. Quiter and Nelly E. Wood. June 15, 1979, he married Janice M. (Clark) in Battle Creek, Michigan, beginning a marriage filled with many years of love, family, and memories.
Vern spent more than 35 years working as a lineman for Consumers Energy. He was a longtime member of Cornerstone Church and was also a dedicated member of the Bronson Kiwanis Club for nearly 25 years.
Vern had many interests and was never one to sit still for long. He was an avid fisherman who made his own fishing poles and tied his own flies. He was also a talented woodworker and a creative craftsman who enjoyed making bracelets, Christmas ornaments, and all kinds of handmade treasures. He had a gift for working with his hands and turning simple materials into something special.
Those who knew Vern will remember him for much more than his many talents. He was thoughtful and caring, bold and outspoken, and never afraid to voice his opinion. Vern was unapologetically himself and lived life in his own way. He had a personality that left an impression, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Vern is survived by his loving wife, Janice Quiter; his children, Kascee (John) Fenters, Paul (Sue) Quiter, Kenn (Amy) Clark, his sister Clara (Doug) Mitmesser; eight grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; a niece and nephews; and many other loving family members and friends.
Vern was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Susan Ann Quiter.
In keeping with Vern’s love for animals, memorial donations may be directed to the Branch County Animal Shelter.
