COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – In boys high school basketball, the Coldwater Cardinals extended their winning streak to 10 straight Tuesday night as they defeated long time rival Sturgis 49-43 at the Coach Floyd Eby Gymnasium.
Coldwater led 29-20 at the half and built their lead to 14 points early in the final quarter before the Trojans rallied to within four points. But Coldwater managed to hold on and improve their record to 11-1 while Sturgis dropped to 9-3.
Gage McGuire led the Cardinals with 18 points and seven rebounds while Brady Beckhusen and Dylan Targgart each had 11 points and six rebounds. Brecken Stewart scored a game high 21 points for Sturgis.
The Coldwater JV team defeated Sturgis 38-31 behind 13 points from Tyler Scherer and 10 points from Noah Waterbury.
The Coldwater Freshman team defeated Sturgis 56-36 to improve to 5-6. Deandre Douglas led all scorers with 18 points while Kenny Cramer scored nine points and Kolby Wagoner added eight points.

The Vikings could not recover from a second quarter in which they were outscored 17-3. Bronson is now 2-4 in the Big 8 and 7-4 overall.
Quincy 58, Jonesville 53
Will Dunn led the Orioles with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Quincy is now 6-1 in the Big 8 and 8-3 overall.
Homer 65, Union City 40
Larson Kever led the Chargers with 12 points. Union City drops to 1-6 in the Big 8 and 3-7 overall. Homer stays in first place in the Big 8 by a half game over Quincy. Homer won the JV game 53-38. Trey Herman led the Chargers with 10 points.
