COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Quincy man was given a nine month jail sentence on Monday in Branch County Circuit Court after a jury found him guilty back on July 12 of unlawful driving away of a motor vehicle.
22-year-old Daymon Scott Gray was acquitted by the jury of a home invasion charge.
He was charged following an investigation by the Michigan State Police into the September 2020 break-in of a Quincy home and the subsequent theft of a minivan that belonged to the property owners.
Six months of the jail sentence was suspended and Gray was given credit for 19 days already served.
On line court records indicate Gray turned down a plea bargain offer from Branch County Prosecutors before the trial.
The July jury trial was the first in Branch County Circuit Court since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
