COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Revised plans for the proposed expansion of a manufactured home park which has drawn the ire of nearby property owners are scheduled to come before the Coldwater Planning Commission on Monday night.
Michigan Trail Tree Village made a request back in April for a Special Land Use Permit.
Kim Scott from Cambio Communities of Southfield said during the April meeting that plans call for the units to be built on a vacant parcel of land that totals just under 18 acres. The land is located between Seeley and Smith Streets.
But the proposal is facing strong opposition from nearby residents. Coldwater City Council member Jim Knaack was among ten persons who spoke in opposition two months ago. He said the project would not fit in the neighborhood.
E-mail comments were 5-1 against the proposed expansion.
After an hour long discussion during the April 3 meeting, the Planning Commission approved the Special Land Use permit with six conditions.
The conditions called for the city to approve a stormwater management plan as well as a plan for soil erosion and sediment control, the Seeley Street access would have to be relocated to the northeast of the site, the dumpster location would have to be relocated away from adjacent single-family residential properties, sidewalks will have to be extended from Thompson Blvd. to the eastern extent of the site and the final Site Plan must be reviewed by the Planning Commission at a public meeting.
