COLDWATER,MI (WTVB) -Winterfest will go on Saturday, including the ever-popular sled races, but organizers are making modifications to the popular event due to forecasted sub-zero temperatures.
Coldwater Recreation Department Director Julie Santure said that for safety reasons,
carriage rides and sled dogs will no longer be part of this year’s event.
Santure says there will lots of indoor activities
The highlight of the day remains the always-popular Kiwanis Cardboard Sled Races.
To limit exposure to the cold, races will be run in heats at Kiwanis Hill, reducing time outdoors for both participants and spectators.
This year’s sled races will feature a new and streamlined format. All sleds need to be
checked in inside the Coldwater Recreation Center between 10-10:30AM, with races kicking off at 11:00 a.m. . Prizes for all sled designs race results will be awarded inside the Rec Center immediately after all classes are completed.
