William F. “Bill” Haley, 72, of Union City died unexpectedly Saturday, June 20, 2026 (his birthday) at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo, MI.
A memorial gathering will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Friday, June 26, 2026 at Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation, 1276 Tate Trail, Union City, MI.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 27, 2026 at the First Congregational UCC, 410 N. Broadway Street, Union City, MI. Pastor Aaron Rieder will officiate.
A reception and meal will immediately follow at Turtle Creek Golf Club, 9044 R Dr. South, Burlington, MI.
Bill was born June 20, 1954 to Robert and Berniece “Bea” (Howard) Haley, Sr. in Battle Creek, Michigan. He grew up in Burlington and graduated from Union City High School with the Class of 1972.
He married his long time friend from high school, Diane Brooks, September 4, 1976 at the Burlington Church of God.
After nearly 40 years as a mold technician, making injection molded parts for the auto industry in both Marshall and Mendon, he retired in 2016. He continued to keep busy, doing work he really loved, at Turtle Creek golf course and handyman work for friends and family.
Bill lived around Union City all his life. He was an avid golfer and had three holes-in-one during his lifetime. If Bill wasn’t on the golf course, he could be found reading old westerns or in his woodshop working on projects.
He and Diane made traveling and spending time together a priority. For many years, they golfed, bowled, and joined in mission trips for the First Congregational Church together.
Above all, his greatest joy and proudest legacy was his family. He led by example and he was just one of those good guys that everyone loved. His family will remember him as being patient, kind, generous, and loving unconditionally. They will also try to carry on his talent of being resourceful, which will bring them a smile and a good laugh as they live life without Bill.
Left to mourn Bill’s passing are his wife of nearly 50 years, Diane Haley; his children, Teasha (Bryant) McIntosh of Union City, Ryan (Jennifer Lewis) Haley of Battle Creek, and Kevin (Robin) Haley of Union City; his grandchildren, Jasmine (Rylee Baird) McIntosh, and Haley (Samiere Frederick) McIntosh; his great-grandchildren, Marlee Baird, Kai Baird, Tariq Frederick, and Asha Frederick. He also leaves behind his beloved sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, nieces and nephews and Ruby, his grand-dog.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Haley, Sr. and Bea Teachout; his sister, Lorraine Kincaid, and his brother, Robert Haley, Jr.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family, c/o Diane Haley, to purchase memorial trees to be planted at the golf course that Bill loved so much or to the Ben Benson Memorial Fund at the Coldwater Moose Lodge, 117 E. Chicago Road, Coldwater, which benefits area youth golf programs.
