UNDATED (WTVB) – All of Branch County’s high school track and field teams competed at Michigan High School Athletic Association Regional meets on Friday, and the county will be represented by 11 individuals and relay teams at the MHSAA Finals on June 5.
At the Division 3 Regional at Hillsdale, Quincy’s girls team won the meet with a team score of 99.5 points, while runner-up Jonesville had 70. Union City was 15th with a team score of 2.33. The Oriole boys finished 4th with 55.7 team points, while Union City was 15th with 7.2.
Qualifying for the Division 3 Lower Peninsula Finals in Jenison from the Hillsdale Regional:
QUINCY GIRLS
- Nikkia Cronk: 2nd in 100m (13.42)
- Nikkia Cronk, Flo Vito, Anna Richer, and Emily Snell: 2nd in 4×100 relay (53.05)
- Sophia Snellenberger: 1st in discus (120’)
- Raigen Horsfall: 2nd in discus (115’ 9”) and 2nd in shot put (38’ 2.5”)
- Anna Turner: 1st in pole vault (9’ 6”)
QUINCY BOYS
- AJ Henderson: 2nd in discus (128’ 6”)
The top two finishers in each event, plus those that meet or exceed the published additional qualifying standard, move on to the state finals.
Bronson competed at the Division 3 Regional at Constantine. The Viking girls finished in 8th place with 38 points, while the boys were 12th with 15 points.
Qualifying for the Division 3 Lower Peninsula Finals in Jenison from the Constantine Regional:
BRONSON GIRLS
- Jenna Salek: 1st in 200m (26.08) and 1st in 400m (59.31)
- Alison Fish: 1st in 300m hurdles (51.97)
- Sidney Swick, Jenna Salek, Grace Welch, and Alison Fish: 2nd in 4×400 relay (4:22.66)
At the Division 2 Mason Regional, Coldwater’s boys finished tied with Portland for 12th with a team score of 16.5, while the Lady Cards were 10th with 30 points. Avery Boyce advanced to the MHSAA Finals as she was second in the girls pole vault with a height of nine feet, three inches.
