UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – The Village of Union City is planning for an electrical outage of at least five hours Saturday morning beginning at 8:00 a.m. in order to tie the entire electrical grid into the new permanent structures being built.
Barring any extreme weather event, this will not change.
The work will also involve a closure on Coldwater Road between Creamery Road and Broadway Street.
The public is being asked to stay clear of that area when crews are working on what is being described as a complex operation with many moving parts.
The Village water system and sewer system will remain operational during the outage.
Officials do not expect any outages until this work takes places.
The power went out for about nine hours in Union City on Tuesday after an electrical explosion inside the village’s DPW/Electric building at 106 Coldwater Road.
The explosion took out the main switch gear for the Village’s electrical system resulting in the entire Village’s electric grid to go down.
