COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County Sheriff John Pollack is scheduled to discuss the construction of a large evidence storage barn with the Branch County Board of Commissioners during their work session on Thursday morning.
Pollack says the building would be used for large evidence and vehicle storage. While the pad has been laid, it was decided that Clark Construction would not construct the building. Instead, it would be the county’s responsibility.
Pollack adds it would provide a temporary housing location for inmates in case a disaster would close the jail. It would also provide a secure location under the Sheriff’s Department’s control for the holding of large evidence before a trial.
With the closing of the State Road Commission barns on Michigan Avenue, the Sheriff’s Department large evidence is currently stored outside in the weather.
Pollack is also scheduled to ask Commissioners about the possibility of using an Asset Disposition Company to sell old evidence and property that needs to be disposed of.
