MARSHALL, MI (WTVB) – First place in the Interstate 8 girls softball standings will be on the line Friday afternoon when the Coldwater Cardinals face the Marshall Red Hawks in Marshall.
The showdown was set up on Tuesday as both teams scored doubleheader sweeps.
The Cardinals won two games at Jackson Northwest by scores of 8-0 and 5-2.
Alexis Bills was the winning pitcher in the first game. Karlie Knisely and Danika Cox each had two doubles while Maren DeBeau had a double and a triple.
Mackenzie Scheid was the game two winning pitcher and collected three hits at the plate.
Coldwater improves to 23-7 overall and 9-1 in the Interstate 8.
They are tied for first with Marshall after the Red Hawks swept Jackson Lumen Christi 14-1 and 16-1 on Tuesday.
Marshall improved to 22-9 overall.
The Cardinals and Redhawks will square off Friday at Marshall in a doubleheader that will go a long way towards deciding this year’s Interstate 8 title.
