The St. Louis Blues announced a pair of moves involving key front-office members on Thursday.
Current general manager and president of hockey operations Doug Armstrong signed a three-year contract extension that spans through the 2028-29 season.
Also, Alexander Steen has been promoted to special assistant to the general manager through the 2025-26 season. He then will become the team’s general manager, the team announced.
Armstrong, 59, has spent 14 seasons as the Blues’ general manager. He was named the NHL general manager of the year in 2012, guided the team to the postseason on 10 occasions and led St. Louis to its first Stanley Cup title in 2019.
Steen, 40, was a member of the Blues’ Cup-winning team in 2019. The forward retired in 2020 after recording 622 points (245 goals, 377 assists) in 1,018 career games with the Maple Leafs and Blues after being selected by Toronto with the 24th overall pick of the 2002 NHL Draft.
