Paul Ray Barnett, 53, of Bronson passed away Sunday, August 23, 2026 after a short illness.
A funeral service celebrating Paul’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, August 27, 2026 at Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation, 1276 Tate Trail, Union City, MI with Pastor Dan Maurer of the Union City Wesleyan Church officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Union City.
Following the interment there will be a luncheon at the Union City Wesleyan Church, 202 Saint Joseph Street.
Visitation will be held just prior to the service, beginning at 11:00 a.m., also Thursday at the Lighthouse.
Paul was born July 5, 1973 to Johnny and Hazel (Marshall) Barnett in Coldwater, Michigan. He graduated from Union City High School with the Class of 1991 and went on to North Central State in Ohio to earn a degree in tool and die.
Paul worked at JTEKT Column Systems in Bronson and had recently started his own business, Lakeside Power Wash. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, woodworking, and epoxy work. Paul loved his family and the Shepherd family fiercely; they were everything to him. He enjoyed coffee with his mom and attending Ohio State games with his son.
Surviving Paul are his mother, Hazel Barnett of Bronson; his son, Austin Barnett of Bronson; his siblings, Betty Fletcher of Oscoda, MI, John Combs, Jr. of Oklahoma City, OK, Patty (Bill) Morley of Burlington, Randy (Geneva) Combs of Oklahoma City, OK, James (Tammy) Combs of Edgerton, OH, Shannon (Dean) Hoskins of Battle Creek, and Edward Barnett of Shelby, OH; his former wife Denise Barnett of Willard, OH; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Johnny Barnett; grandparents, Delilah Rose and Albert and Goldie Marshall; his sisters, Julie Combs and Damita James; and his fiancé Kathy.
